Subscription

What's the subscription deadline?

You can subscribe on our website until February 5th, 2010.

As a Dutch or German student should I subscribe for workshops/interviews from a German or Dutch company?

On the website the language of instruction for each activity is indicated. (Note that there are also workshops in English, which everyone can attend). We advise you to take a close look at the language of the activity you are planning to subscribe, as it will not be very informative to attend an activity in a language you do not master.

What does it cost to participate at the MBD 2010?

Participating in the MBD will cost €13,00 for FAME-members and €17,00 for non-members*. This amount is not related to the amount of scheduled activities. Lunches, snacks, and drinks at the company fair are included in this price. Participation in the company fair is for free on both days. Please also see the next question about not attending the event and the penalty fee!

What if I can not attend the MBD after subscribing?

You have the opportunity to notify us until 27th February 2010 (noon) if you cannot attend. Please note that there is a €15,00 penalty for students that get selected for workshops, interviews, and dinners and are not present for these activities. The reason for that is that companies pay for and chose their favorite students and it is detrimental for all parties involved if you as a student does not show up. You can notify us per email until 27th February 2010 (noon) and you will not be charged the penalty and subscription fee (info@mbd2010.com). However, keep in mind that the companies selected you out of 500 students and don't disappoint them!

If I subscribe, do I immediately need to pay?

The money will be deducted from your account after the event from the bank account that you provided us with. If you don’t have a Dutch bank account number, please transfer the money after you subscribe to 1037.56.612 Stichting T.I.P.. (IBAN: NL85 RABO 0103756612; SWIFT: RABONL2U). Your subscription will only be valid after the money has been transferred. If you have any problems, please contact us at info@mbd2010.com.

How do I know if I am a FAME member?

To check your membership status, go to www.famecooperation.com and fill in your University ID number.

I do not want to subscribe for a workshop, but I am interested in visiting the presentations and the company fair, is that possible?

Yes that is possible and also encouraged. Especially for students in the earlier phases of their studies, this can be an attractive opportunity to get a first insight into some companies and establish contacts.

Program

How do I know which workshop is given when and where?

You can find the schedule for both days on our website as soon as possible. There will be a general program including presentations, lunch and company fair. After allocation you will get also an individual program, which will consist of the workshops, interviews and dinners if you get selected. The floor plan of the workshop rooms will be provided upon arrival at the MECC.

Where can I find how the workshops will look like?

Via the hyperlinks in the Day Schedule you can find a page with company descriptions and also the descriptions of the workshops given.

Both days the program includes a company fair, what can I do there?

Parallel with the interviews, there is a company fair. This fair consists mainly of company stands of the participating companies. The fair gives you the chance to get in contact with all companies present at the event. This is an ideal opportunity to get acquainted with your company in a more informal way. Since the company fair is also considered a nice closing of the day, it includes a drink, some entertainment and other ways to relax after a strenuous day. Everybody is invited to come to the company fair, with or without a subscription.

Where does the MBD take place?

The MBD 2010 takes place in the MECC Congress Centre. The floor plan of the workshop rooms will be provided upon arrival at the MECC.

Which companies are participating at the MBD 2010?

You can find a list of participating companies on the website. The participating companies are also mentioned in the Day Schedules. A ompany profile is given, together with a description of the workshop that the company will give at the MBD 2010. Via the provided hyperlink you can find your way to the company websites.

Selection

How are students selected?

Company recruiters select the students they would like to see during the activities based on their CVs. Afterwards the MBD board will allocate students to activities based on the optimal combination of student preferences and company selections. If you do not get selected for a particular activity that does not mean that the company is not interested in you; they might have chosen other students for various reasons. Therefore, if you are interested in a company but did not get selected, we strongly advise you to attend the presentation and to go to the company fair to meet the company. There will be no room for negotiation about your final schedule and the activities you get selected for.

What if I am not selected by any company?

By giving multiple preferences for every round of activities, the possibility that you will not be allocated at all is minimal. However, in the unfortunate case where you do not get selected, you will still have enough opportunities to meet companies by means of the company fair or company presentations.

Organization

Can I organize the MBD next year?

If you are interested in organizing the MBD 2011, email one of the current board members for more information.

Can I become a day committee member and help out during the MBD 2010?

Yes, you can! Send your resume to info@mbd2010.com and briefly indicate what kind of tasks you would like to fulfill (for possibilities, see next question). Of course, all your information will be treated confidentially, just as it would when you subscribe as a participant for the MBD.

What kind of tasks will I have as a day committee member?

As a general member of the day committee, you will help out with tasks such as the registration process, the company fair, more or less everything that pops up and has to be arranged. You will get an exclusive look at how the MBD is organized.
As a company buddy you are the MBD ambassador towards a specific company during the time the company is present. This means that you need to cater to the recruiters’ wishes as good as possible, make sure the recruiters follow their schedule etc. All in all, you are an important link between the MBD board and the participating company. What’s in it for you? The ability to get to know recruiters of a company you are interested in. If you become a company buddy we expect you to also help out with some other more general tasks. You can become a day committee member for only one day, this way you can attend the MBD as participant the other day.
